Math Program Coordinator and Design Lead
LPS is seeking a Math Program Coordinator and Design Lead to lead and support our teachers in
transforming math educational experience and outcomes for all students.
LPS is excited to find an energetic, detail-oriented, highly organized math guru to join our amazing team
of educators and lead the design and transformation of the LPS math program. The ideal candidate will
be an experienced facilitator of adult learning, have a diverse background in math instruction and
accelerating student achievement, a demonstrated personal commitment to serving the urban education
community, and a demonstrated record as a skilled communicator and community builder. Join us
supporting 100% of our students in achieving math excellence!
ABOUT LPS
Leadership Public Schools' mission is to prepare students to succeed in college and become leaders in
their communities. A network of four urban charter high schools, LPS is dedicated to providing an
exemplary education in underserved communities in the Bay Area and developing replicable practices
that can address critical issues in the wider education field. LPS has developed a national reputation for
accelerating the achievement of students entering high school below grade level and for creatively
leveraging technology to empower teachers and students.
Primary Responsibilities
Oversee Math Program
● Provide vision and leadership for the LPS Math program grounded in ensuring that 100% of our
students reach and exceed proficiency in mathematics.
● Ensure that all courses are aligned to the expectation of CCSS Math Standards and Practices, by
specifically:
○ Leading the implementation of the EngageNY Algebra, Geometry and Algebra 2
Curriculum
○ Overseeing the development of coherence maps throughout the math sequence
○ Managing and supporting the development of curriculum maps, associated curricular
resources and common core aligned assessments including performance assessments
that integrate with EngageNY curriculum
○ Ensuring teachers understand the key instructional practices necessary to support
students’ development of all CCSS Math Practices for all courses - Numeracy through
Calculus
○ Support all teachers in developing their repertoire of strategies to support student
centered classrooms, differentiation, and deeper learning.
● Develop and sustain relationships with all math teachers across the LPS Network to ensure
engagement, alignment, buy in, and effective implementation of math programs for all LPS
students.
● Ensure curriculum resources meet the needs of all students by supporting teachers in the
development, refinement and iteration of curriculum including supports for with students with
special learning needs and emergent bilingual students.
● Coordinate the development of robust formative assessment resources to supplement and build
out curriculum resources.
Professional Development
● Ensure that 100% of LPS Teachers are prepared to deliver CCSS aligned curriculum and
instruction and effectively engage students in rigorous learning experiences.
● Design and lead math professional development for all courses at Network PD days, necessary
release days and other collaborations (approximately 10 PD days annually).
● Support 100% of teachers in developing instructional practices that support students’ deeper
learning outcomes.

● Support effective teacher collaboration within and across all math course groups.
● Support the leadership development of math course facilitators.
● Work collaboratively with site administrators to ensure understanding of the CCSS math vision,
and that sites have the necessary coaching and support needs of teachers given local contexts.
● Work collaboratively with external partners and regional experts to ensure teachers are trained in
the CCSS and Engage NY curriculum.
Program Monitoring and Support
● Monitor and support attainment of key growth and proficiency metrics for the math program
(including grade data, SBAC Data, ACT data).
● Support site administrators in deepening math content and pedagogical knowledge in order to
ensure alignment at sites to Common Core curricula and researched based instructional practices
to support students learning.
● Ensure all teachers have access to and deep understanding of the core curricula for their
courses, Numeracy through Calculus.
● Collaborate with the CAO to evaluate and adjust the CCSS Transition plan for in the areas of
curriculum, assessment, and instruction to ensure student achievement at the highest levels on
external and internal measures.
● Serve as a member of the PD Team at the Home Office.
Qualifications
● Deep understanding of the CCSS in Mathematics and the EngageNY Curriculum
● High levels of competency and confidence in mathematics through Calculus
● Exceptional interpersonal skills, high emotional intelligence, and cross-cultural communication
skills
● Five years of experience as a math teacher
● Three years of experience as a Math leader, coach or trainer
● Experience working in urban schools with a track record of results for students
● Skill in strategy, planning and project management with the ability to take an idea from concept to
completion
● Demonstrated ability to work effectively with educators, providing strong support, inspiring them
to productive action
● Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial and outcome-driven environment, adapt to changing needs
and contribute strategically to the overall mission
● Technological proficiency and experience with variety of online learning platforms
● Willingness to travel the Bay Area and out-of-state as needed
● Graduate degree in Mathematics or Education preferred
