- 2. WHAT IS INDEPENDENT VARIABLE ? An independent variable is a variable that is manipulated to determine the value of a dependent variable s. The dependent variable is what is being measured in an experiment or evaluated in a mathematical equation and the independent variables are the inputs to that measurement.
- 3. WHAT IS DEPENDENT VARIABLE ? The dependent variable is the variable that is being measured in an experiment. For example, in a study looking at how tutoring impacts test scores, the dependent variable would be the participants' test scores, since that is what is being measured.
