OF GRAPHS.

The whole graph sheet is divided
into two axis.
The horizontal line is called as
X- axis. It is denoted by XOX’.
The vertical line is called as
Y-axis. It is denoted by YOY’.

The point of intersection of
X-axis and Y- axis is called
as ORIGIN.

The whole plane of
graph is divided into
four parts which we
call as QUADRANTS.
I quadrant – ( +,+)
II quadrant _ (-,+)
III quadrant _ (-,-)
IV quadrant _ (+.-)

PLOTTING OF POINTS IN THE GRAPH
SHEET
Plot the point A(4,2) on the graph sheet.
Solution:
Given point is A(4,2).
Here,
The X coordinate of A is 4.
The Y coordinate of A is 2.
Both are positive.
It lies in the FIRST quadrant.
PROBLEM 1
SCALE:
X axis 1 cm = 1 Unit
Y axis 1 cm = 1 Unit

Plot the point B(2,-4)on the graph sheet.
Solution:
Given point is B(2,-4).
Here,
The X coordinate of B is 2.
The Y coordinate of B is -4.
Both are positive.
It lies in the THIRD quadrant.

To find Y the following table can be used.

Solution:
Given A(-3,2),B(0,0) ,C(3,-2)
A lies on the second quadrant.
