OS X is Apple's operating system that runs on Macintosh computers. It was first released in 2001 and over the next
few years replaced Mac OS 9 (also known as Mac OS Classic) as the standard OS for Macs. It was called "Mac OS X"
until version OS X 10.8, when Apple dropped "Mac" from the name.

 In 2012, with the release of OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, the name of the system was shortened
from Mac OS X to OS X.
 Apple's new user interface design, using deep color saturation, text-only buttons and a minimal,
'flat' interface, was debuted with iOS 7 in 2013.
 The version released in 2013, OS X 10.9 Mavericks, was something of a transitional release, with
some of the skeuomorphic design removed, while most of the general interface of Mavericks
remained unchanged.
 The next version, OS X 10.10 Yosemite, adopted a design similar to iOS 7 but with greater
complexity suitable for an interface controlled with a mouse.

Early versions of Mac OS were compatible only with Motorola 68000-
family Macintoshes which is released On January 24, 1984. It’s memory
was 128kB

The official system requirements of OS X 10.8 are 2 GB RAM, 8 GB available storage, OS X 10.6.8 (Snow
Leopard) or later, on any of the following Macs

OS X Mavericks (version 10.9) is the tenth major release of OS X was released on October
22, 2013 worldwide.

The update emphasized battery life, Finder improvements, other improvements
for power users.
continued iCloud integration, as well as bringing more of Apple's iOS apps to OS
X.
The Open Transport API has been removed.
USB syncing of calendar, contacts and other information to iOS devices has been
removed, instead requiring the use of iCloud.
The new iBook's application allows the user to read books purchased through the
iBooks Store

OS X Mavericks can run on any Mac that can run OS X Mountain Lion; as with Mountain Lion, 2 GB
of RAM, 8 GB of available storage, and OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) or later are required. Mavericks
and later versions are all available for free.

OS X Yosemite (version 10.10) is the eleventh major release of OS X. Yosemite was released to consumers on
October 16, 2014

Yosemite introduced a major overhaul of OS X's user interface,
emphasizing flat graphic design over skeuomorphism, following the
aesthetic introduced with iOS 7
Yosemite's new features focus on the theme of continuity
Increased it’s integration with other Apple services and platforms
such as iOS and iCloud.
As of OS X 10.10.3, Photos replaces iPhoto and Aperture. It uses
iCloud Photo Library to upload all the user's photos across their
devices.
Notification Center features a new "Today" view, similar to that in iOS

Mac OS X Version 10.6.8 does not support display of backup files in
a /.snapshots subdirectory.
Due to ACL caching on a Mac OS client, the ACL information might
become stale for a short period of time.
By default, a MAC OS client uses non-reserved ports. The Storwize
V7000 Unified system rejects requests from non-reserved ports.
 A change in execute permission (x-bit) for Mac binaries
that are stored in an NFS folder may not always be
recognized by a Mac client immediately

Apple, Inc. used to be Apple Computer, Inc. But in 2007 they changed their name to remove
the computer. With the most recent event on September 7, 2016, it seems that they are trying to
remove the computer from their business as well their name.

Conclusion Apple's OS X is a very stable and refined operating system.
Apple OS X on UNIX and has had years of refinement. It has several
security features that prevent unwanted applications from exploiting any
of its weaknesses. Currently, OS X has less than 10% of the market share
for computers.
