MAXIS Communications Berhad is the leading mobile provider in Malaysia and was expanding into 3G services and had acquired a rival. CELSIM was asked to design a management development program to enhance skills for managers being groomed for senior roles to manage the merged teams and new strategic direction. The program focused on personal effectiveness, managing people, and business acumen. It used highly interactive workshops, role plays, and a business simulation. The results were that MAXIS managers gained knowledge and skills to improve business acumen and team leadership to deliver better business performance and competitive advantage. A participant said it was an excellent opportunity to improve management skills and focus on business processes, and that the tools learned were valuable to offer back to their team.
