 Exceptions:

Dramatic Works
 According to sec 2(h) of copyright act 1957,
dramatic work includes any piece for
recitation, choreographic work or
entertainment in dumb show, the scenic
arrangement or acting, form of which is fixed
in writing or otherwise but does not include a
cinematograph film;
 Dramatic works include plays, scripts,
choreography, and performances.
 Protection covers:
- The structure and arrangement of the work.
- Rights to perform, record, or adapt the work.
 Exceptions:
- Public domain works.
- Non-commercial performances.

Copyright in
Musical Works
 According to sec 2 (p) of copyright act 1957,
musical work means a work consisting of music
and includes any graphical notation of such work
but does not include any words or any action
intended to be sung, spoken or performed with the
music;
 Musical works include compositions, lyrics, and
arrangements.
 Protection covers:
I. Original melodies, lyrics, and arrangements.
II. Rights to perform, reproduce, or distributed
recordings.
 Exceptions:
- Limited use for educational or parody purposes.
