The Mesh Club 1.0 aims to develop decentralized civic wireless networks, empowering communities by sharing knowledge and infrastructure ownership. In response to the centralization of the internet, the club focuses on both theoretical and practical research while engaging local and thematic communities through a collaborative 'wifi' map project. The initiative seeks to deploy several mesh networks, involving community participation and resource sharing to enhance communication freedoms.

- 2. The Club’s Mission To develop civic non-commercial wireless networks and share knowledge and experience for communities.
- 3. What is “mesh network”? – It is decentralized wireless network with dynamic architecture, where every node can have different roles, and the network infrastructure is in its creators possession.
- 4. Why does the Falanster deal with it? – Today Net (i.e. Internet) is very centralized. – The situation allows to control and censor civic information and communication as by providers (ISP) as by states. – We understand necessity that the network infrastructure is in users’ ownership. – It enforces and fosters different communities and keep their freedoms.
- 5. The Mesh Club’s 1.0 Aim – To deploy several mesh networks for theme and local communities needs.
- 6. Main Club’s Branches – Theoretical research – Practical research – Social communication – “Wifi” map
- 7. Theoretical research – Introduction the network (wireless, mesh etc) – To learn best practices (commotionwireless, freifunk, guifi etc). – Experience wikification
- 8. Practical Research – Change firmware (tp-link, ubiquity, mikrotik etc) – Install services (etherpad, piratebox, kiwix, web- server, chat) – IT-tent – Mesh network (pilot)
- 9. Social communication – Local communities – Topic communities – Gamification for involving people in the mesh process
- 10. “Wifi” map – Who needs and who wants to share wifi – Add, edit, share the points.
- 11. We achieve result when – Deploy 1-3 networks (3-10 nodes for each) – Enlist 10-15 active club participators and 2-3 communities. – Complete “wifi” map – Structurize experience – Participate with IT-tent in 1-3 external events
