This document discusses three methods for cultivating microalgae - autotrophic, heterotrophic, and mixotrophic cultivation. Autotrophic cultivation relies on light, carbon dioxide, and nutrients for growth. Heterotrophic cultivation provides an organic carbon source for growth in darkness. Mixotrophic cultivation provides both light and an organic carbon source. These cultivation methods can be used for applications such as biofuel production, nutraceuticals, aquaculture feed, and wastewater treatment.
