This paper discusses the design of a microstrip patch antenna using a defected ground structure for WLAN applications, specifically at a frequency of 5.20 GHz. The antenna exhibits favorable characteristics, including a bandwidth of 310 MHz, an optimal return loss of -51 dB, and a directivity of 6.5 dBi, demonstrating good impedance matching. The study highlights the potential for enhancing bandwidth while maintaining effective performance in compact designs for wireless communication systems.
