A mind map is a diagram used to visually organize information around a central concept, using images, words, and branches of associated ideas/topics arranged radially. Mind maps are used to generate, visualize, structure and classify ideas as an aid for studying, organizing information, solving problems, making decisions and writing. While similar graphical methods have existed for centuries, mind maps were popularized by author Tony Buzan in the 1970s as a note-taking technique that utilizes more of the brain's cognitive skills than linear notes. Mind mapping software allows for creating large, organized digital mind maps.
