Cash Flow & Fund Flow Important Financial statements recording movement of cash & funds between two balance sheet dates. Funds Flow Fund flow depicts the working capital analysis of the company. It gives details of the movements of funds in a business, i.e. source of funds & their application. Working capital is the net difference between current assets & current liabilities

Interest Calculations Normally interest is computed for ledgers created under sundry debtors, sundry creditors, unsecured loans, secured loans, bank OD a/c, Loans ( liability) & loans & advances (assets). In Tally interest can be calculated transactions by transactions or it can be a periodic calculation on closing balances. Interest can be calculated from Effective date (which can be delivery date, invoice date etc.,) Due date ( when the invoice becomes due as mentioned while passing the entry) After grace period ( as configured in the party master) Any other date mentioned at the time of passing entry (a date which may not affect ageing style as in the case of effective date)

Interest Calculations Interest is calculated up to Bill payment Up to reporting date (exclusive of reporting date) A date mentioned as the last date in the periodic calculation The calculation can be reported from interest calculation beginning or from expiry of grace period. The calculation can be effected using voucher class with the option to change interest parameters in case of simple interest With the option to club the bill dues along with interest in case of compounding

Interest Calculations When Party account is not tracked bill by bill, only periodic interest calculation can be enabled. When Party account is tracked bill by bill, interest calculation can be either periodic or transaction based.( a bill status is referred as transaction) When transaction based interest calculation is enabled, The parameters can be fixed for all transactions or can be changed for each transaction. When Party account is tracked bill by bill, the bills ageing is calculated by voucher date( effective date) or due date. The interest can be calculated , apart from the above two dates, on the following dates. After the grace period Any other date ( an option available if you configure to override parameters for each transaction)

Interest Calculations The basic parameters are interest rate and style. The advance parameters for periodic interest calculation are Interest balances ( all, debit, credit), period from, period to and rounding off. The advance parameters for transaction based interest calculation are interest balances (all, debit, credit) , applicability of reporting, grace period, starting date considered for interest calculation and rounding off. When we use advance parameters it can be changed for period and interest balances wherever applicable

Interest Calculations Interest is calculated only for reporting purpose and not posted to ledgers. It might be used for Analyzing the margins , repeated sales and cost of borrowing to take financing decisions Correspondence with clients for faster collections. Remember income not realizable should not be accounted as income. you will end up paying tax and removal of the same from the books need lots of documentary evidence to convince management, auditors and statutory authorities

Interest Calculations Interest Receivable so calculated can be posted in ledgers using voucher class in debit note. Similarly interest payable can be posted in ledges using voucher class in credit note. This is the additional configuration option available in debit / credit note apart from other configuration options available in purchase / sales voucher class. The options are Use class for interest calculation Amounts to be treated as compound interest

Simple or compound calculations If interest is calculated as simple interest , the interest entry can have a separate reference number. The rate for the transaction can be amended if you want to override interest parameters at transaction level. On the other hand, if we selected amounts to be treated as compound interest , the interest entry will have the same bill reference number and the interest parameters can’t be altered. The due entry henceforth will appear for balance principal plus interest together for the bill reference

Payment Performance Payment Performance of Debtors (Receivable Turnover in days) is the average time the customers take to actually pay their bills irrespective of the outstanding balance on the statement date. It is quite possible that the receivable turnover is low and the payment performance is high indicating that the customers cleared their outstanding, but took a long time doing it. To get group level and customer level performance reports and a detailed position of debt collection, you have to drill down from the ratios. Use a customer statement that shows both the receivable turnover in days and the customer's actual payment performance. Back

Scenarios While Budgets talks about how to plan the immediate future, scenarios deals with impact of changes to the targets. Scenarios can be used for preparation of budget or can produce the likely result when collated with actuals. Tally allows you to create number of scenarios. Budget Budgets are Profit planning made by the company for the immediate future based on assumed scenario. Budgets need not be fully integrated and may be of several versions and may for different periods Tally allows you to prepare budgets for ledgers, groups and cost centers Budgets can be created in accounts masters and can be viewed in reports Budgets should be for a period A group budget is created for ledger groups with in which it can further fix budgeted amount for each cost centers. The type of the budget can be On closing balances (more apt for balance sheet groups) On Net transactions (more apt for revenue ledgers which allows you to, say view, budgeted sales for 15 days compared with actual sales for the period)

Budget A group budget is more appropriate where we don’t know the individual ledger break up for budgeting. Example sales budgeted Rs. Five crores from Bangalore but not exactly the customers ledgers can be identified. A ledger wise budget is more detailed than group budget as it identifies the projected activity at ledger level. Again ledger wise budget may also be identified cost center wise.
