Project Evaluation Bate’s ACTIONS model will be used to evaluate this project. The focus will be on the project usability aspect.
Evaluation Aim This evaluation research aims at examining the usability of the course from the perspective of both; the user and the instructional designer.
Operational definition Usability in this evaluation means that how much the course is easy to use by the user. Usability concerns about page design (navigation, visual design, learner guidance, content presentation).
Evaluation Questions Q1. For which extent the user is satisfied with the course usability in terms of navigation, learner guidance and visual design? Q2. For which extent the course is useable in terms of navigation, learner guidance and visual design and content presentation from the perspective of the instructional designers?
Evaluation Methodology Evaluation Methodology Sample Students from grade 5 & 6. Instructional designers from CET and ILT department. Instrument Q1. For which extent the user is satisfied with the course usability in terms of navigation, learner guidance and visual design? To answer this question interviews will be conducted with the students.
Q2. For which extent the course is useable in terms of navigation, learner guidance and visual design from the perspective of the instructional designer? To answer this question criteria checklist will be given to instructional designers.
Q1 instrument The interviews will be conducted after allowing learners to use the program for one week. The interview contains some open ended questions about the course usability in terms of navigation, learner guidance and visual design. Questions are taken from Nieleson’ Protocol for heuristic evaluation of e-learning programs.
Heuristic evaluation is the most popular of the usability inspection methods. Heuristic evaluation is done as a systematic inspection of a user interface design for usability. The goal of heuristic evaluation is to find the usability problems in the design so that they can be attended to as part of an iterative design process.
Q2 instrument * The checklist is developed by supervisors of the King Hamad’s Schools of the Future Project, Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Bahrain. * This checklist is used to evaluate teachers projects that participate in the competition of the King Hamad’s Schools of the Future Project.
