Get Ready For Your DBA!

I am so excited that you are almost complete with your first module! You and I will need to have a short
chat, over the phone. I will ask you some questions about what you learned in module one. At the end
of the discussion I will give you a password for the module 1 online exam, Lesson 1.08.

Don’t be nervous! To help you prepare, here are a few questions and topics to review. I recommend
you print this paper or write your answers on a sheet of paper. When you have reviewed the module
and answered the questions, practice talking about the questions and answers with a parent or family
member. Good luck!

Use the questions below to help you prepare for your oral quiz and Module One Exam.

1. What is Science? (1.02)

2. What is the difference between a Theory and a Law? (1.03)

3. List and describe the steps of the Scientific Method. (1.04)

4. What is a Hypothesis? (1.04)

5. When and why do we collect data? (1.04)

6. Thoroughly read the Tulip and Wooden Shoe experiments located in lesson 1.05. Also, complete
the virtual lab in 1.04 with Galileo in the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Be able to discuss the different
variables in each experiment and why it is important to test only one variable at a time. You
should also know some of the conclusions for each of these experiments.

6. Describe what variables are and why they are important in Science. (1.05)

7. What are the three basic units of the metric system and what do they measure? (1.06)

9. Why do scientists use the metric system? (1.06)
