Monsters! What are some famous monsters that we know?  List 4.
Creating your monsters: Create 3 individual designs.  Then decide whether you want to work individually or with a partner. Create a maquette whether with your partner or by yourself.  It will be 6” tall and made out of clay
3. The Maquette: A small model of the final form The maquette is ¼ the size of your papier-mâché Monster
Papier-mâché: 4. SCULPT with papier-mâché to create your monster. Items to sculpt with: - Newspaper - Paper towel  tubes - Model Magic - Aluminum Wire
Final Surface 5. Paint your monster with expressive colors. REMEMBER: This is a sculpting class.  There are painting effects you can do, but eyes, lips, teeth, etc., need to be sculpted, no just painted on.

Evaluation Criteria Sturdiness of final Monster –  stands up on its own, or falls over Painting craftsmanship –  sloppy or neat Expression of Monster –  blank stare or ferocious face Incorporated details –  spikes, horns, teeth, etc.   Finished papier-mâché surface –  considered the texture of the paper Overall creativity Individual effort Partner cooperation and attitude
So let’s begin sketching and planning, and remember… THINK UGLY!
