Revolutionary theories?

Many people want an LMS like this:
                 • A private, secure place
                 • Replicate/enforce traditional roles
                 • Students seen as needing to gain
                   competencies and knowedge
                 • Content is structured and “dumped”
on the students to be absorbed
                 • Content is “pumped” out of the
                   students again and competencies
                   assessed via Quizzes

                                         Copyright 2011 © Martin Dougiamas CC BY-NC
But an LMS can also be like this:
                • A focussed community of practitioners
                • Everyone is a teacher and learner
                • Connected activities that use different
strategies to gather data, reuse it,
analyse it, practice skills and so on.
                • Integration with the rest of the internet
                • Content is gathered/produced by
                  the students continuously
                • Assessment takes place continuously
in a number of ways (everything is
                  assessable), by all participants
                                            Copyright 2011 © Martin Dougiamas CC BY-NC
