Verb + Infinitivein Spanish, many useful expressions areformed by combining two verbs.the first verb is conjugated, while thesecond verb remains in the infinitive form.
Verb + InfinitiveYovoy a viajar a España. (ir)I am going to travel to Spain.Túacabas de comer. (acabar)You have just eaten.Juan puedenadarcadadía. (poder)Juan can swim every day.Maríavuelve a leer el libro. (volver)María reads the book again.
Acabar de + InfinitiveOne such expression combines the verbacabar(conjugated) with an infinitive. The preposition "de" is always used.
Acabar de + Infinitiveto have just done something(in the very recent past)
Acabar de + InfinitiveNosotrosacabamos de leer el libro.We just read the book.Vosotrosacabáis de escribirunascartas.You-all havejustwritten some letters.Ellosacaban de nadar en el mar.They havejustswum in the ocean.

Volver a + InfinitiveAnother expression combines the verbvolver(conjugated) with an infinitive. The preposition “a" is always used.
Volver a + Infinitiveto do something again(past, present and future)
Volver a + InfinitiveVuelvo a leer el libro.I read the book again.Cristina havueltoa conversar con mi mamá.Christina has spokenwith my mom again.Ayer, volvióanievar.    Yesterday, it snowedagain.Mañana, volveráallover    Tomorrow it will rain again.
