2. Who invented it?
Samuel Finley Breese Morse (April 27th, 1791 - April 2nd, 1872) was an
inventor and painter who invented a new system of telegraphy in the
United States, with his friend Alfred Vail, they installed the telegraph
morse, that used the morse code.
While he was studying at Yale he learned that if
a circuit is interrupted we can see a brightness
and he thought that it can be used as a means of
communication.
3. What is the morse code?
The morse code or morse alphabet is a
system of representation of letters and
numbers by means of signs issued of
intermittent form.
It was develop in 1830. Vail created a
method according to that every letter or
number was transmitted of individual form
by a code consisting of stripes and points.
4. Applications
In its beginning, the alphabet Morse used in the telegraphic lines by
means of the layings of cable that they were installing. Later, it was in use
also in the transmissions for radio, especially in the sea and in the air.
Actually, it is only use in the area of the radio amateurs. Also it is in use
in the instrumental aviation for tuning to the stations VOR, ILS and NDB.
In the charts the frequency is indicated together with a sign Morse that
serves, by means of radio, to confirm that has been tuned correctly.
