Moses was sent down the Nile river as a baby to escape the Pharaoh's order to kill all Hebrew baby boys. He was found and raised by the Egyptian princess as her own. As an adult, Moses learned of his Hebrew heritage and killed an Egyptian taskmaster who was beating a Hebrew slave. Fearing the Pharaoh's wrath, Moses fled into the desert. There, God spoke to Moses through a burning bush and commanded him to return to Egypt to demand that the Pharaoh free the Israelites from slavery. However, the Pharaoh refused despite the ten plagues God inflicted upon Egypt. Moses then led the Israelites out of Egypt and across the Red Sea, but some worshipped a golden calf
