Dan 1:2   (MKJV) “And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his ( Nebuchadnezzar ) hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God, which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god. And he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.”
The Plot unfolds in Babylon
Summary of Reasons why Israel is in Babylon: Jer 2:7-15; Jer 25; Dan 9:2; Zech 1:12; 7:5 Apostasy among leadership (priests); Adopted Baal-worship, and forsook God; Enemies of Israel started hunting her down to enslave her (God protection had departed); Jer 2:13 (KJV)  “For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters,  and  hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.”
Jer 25:11 (MKJV) “And this whole land shall be a ruin  and  a waste. And these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.” Jer 25:12 (MKJV) “And it shall be, when seventy years are fulfilled I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, and the land of the Chaldeans, says Jehovah, for their iniquity, and I will make it an everlasting ruin.”
Jer 29:10  (MKJV) “For so says Jehovah, When according to My Word seventy years have been fulfilled for Babylon, I will visit you and confirm My good Word to you, to bring you back to this place.”   Dan 9:2  (MKJV) “… In the first year of his ( Darius ) reign, I, Daniel, understood the number of the years by books, which came of the Word of Jehovah to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.”
Zech 1:12  (MKJV) “Then the Angel of Jehovah answered and said, O Jehovah of Hosts, how long will You not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah against which You have cursed these seventy years?” Zech 7:5  (MKJV) Speak to all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh months, even those seventy years, did you truly fast to Me,  even  to Me?
