Men in New Zealand have a life expectancy 4 years less than women due to men accessing health services 30-40% less. This is partly due to a "she'll be right" attitude and reluctance to see doctors for illness or regular checkups. Key health issues addressed by Movember in 2008 were men's depression, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer, with 1 in 10 men experiencing depression but most not seeking help, and 2,700 prostate cancer diagnoses and 600 deaths annually.
