MULTI DIRECTION DUMPING SYSTEM
• INTRODUCTION:
 A dumper is a vehicle designed for carrying bulk
material, often on building sites.
 A dump truck is a truck used for transporting loose
material (such as sand, gravel, or demolition waste)
for construction.
 A typical dump truck is equipped with an open-box
bed, which is hinged at the rear and equipped
with hydraulic pistons to lift the front, allowing the
material in the bed to be deposited ("dumped") on
the ground behind the truck at the site of delivery.
 In the UK, Australia and India the term applies to off-road
construction plant only, and the road vehicle is known as
a tipper, tipper lorry (UK, India).
 Modern dumpers have payloads of up to 10000 kg
&usually steer by articulating at the middle of the chassis
(pivot steering).
 A dumper is integral part of any construction work
&hence role is important for completion of any
constructional site.
 One of the problem is created with in the time & energy
for setting the huge dumper in proper direction to dump
the material it in carrying & hence the need of the project
work riser which is about 3 directional dumper which can
dump the material in any direction
Multi direction dumping system
AIM AND OBJECTIVE:
 The 3-way dumping is unique 3-side dumping system
which is easy in situations where use of a conventional
dumping is difficult. This trailer side-dumping great
capability. Jobs is easily unloading in inner city area.
• 3-Directional dumper can be helpful for farmers, site
construction, garbage collector as well for dumping
gravel, sand etc. It also can reduce the work while it can
dump in 3 directions. It also takes less time than
traditional dumpers which can reduces the work & time.
• WORKING PRINCIPLE:
 Three way hydraulic dumper’s main part is tipping system
mechanism. Tipping system mechanism is heart of a three
way hydraulic truck.
 Hydraulic cylinder is place on the fixed chassis and piston
end connected with the body by pivot joint.
 During the forward stroke of cylinder pushes piston. And
body is lift so forward stroke during dump is unloading.
Then return stroke during body is place in actual position.
Model of multi direction dumping system:
 With the help of gear, racket trolley will move in back side
direction by mechanism of pin and lock system. It will stop
at position where lockers are placed for backside working..
 Right and left side working with the help of gear, racket
and groove it will move in the right direction and it will
lock in the locker which is placed on the chassis and
hydraulic cylinder will lift the trolley.
• Advantages:
 Increased moving ability.
 Use in less space. (Where turning is difficult)
 Time and energy save.
 Complexity increased
• Disadvantages:
 Cost is high.
 Maintenance is high
• PARTS & DESIGN:
• Hydraulic Motor:
 A hydraulic motor is a mechanical actuator that
converts hydraulic pressure and flow into torque and
angular displacement (rotation). The hydraulic motor is
the rotary counterpart of the hydraulic cylinder as a
linear actuator.
 Conceptually, a hydraulic motor should
be interchangeable with a hydraulic pump because it
performs the opposite function - similar to the way a
DC electric motor is theoretically interchangeable with a
DC electrical generator. However, most hydraulic pumps
cannot be used as hydraulic motors because they cannot
be back driven.
• Types of Dumper:
 There are six type of dumper in the industry.
 Standard Dump Truck
 Articulated Dump Truck
 Transfer Dump Truck
 Pup and Dump
 Semi Trailer end Dump truck
 Side Dump Truck
• Standard Dump Truck:
 This truck is chassis with a dump body mounted to the
frame. His truck arrangement is bed raised hydraulic ram.
Hydraulic ram is located under the front between the
frames rear of the bed is hinged at the rear to the truck.
The tailgate swing on hinges.
• Articulated Dump Truck:
 Articulated dump truck hinged between the cab and dump
box, but it is semi-trailer dump truck in that the permanent
cab and not separable vehicle. This vehicle use longer
distance and overly flat surface. In this type of truck take
maintenance is higher. This is first mass production dump
truck.
• Transfer Dump Truck:
 This dump truck is separate dump truck and loaded the
material(sand, gravel , snow , etc.) this second container is
running electric motor, hydraulic line. it is depending upon
the axel arrangement. Transfer dump trucks capacity 26 to
27 tons.
• Pup and Dump:
 This dump truck is similar to a transfer dump. Pup is unlike
the transfer has its own hydraulic ram available it is capable
self-unloading.
• Semi Trailer end Dump truck:
 This dump is tractor-trailer combination where the trailer
itself contain the hydraulic hoist. it is three axle pulling a two
axle semi-trailer. Advantage is that rapid unloading. And
disadvantage is unstable when raise the dumping position.
• Side Dump Truck:
 This dump truck is one side dumping. Unloading the material
left side or right side of the trailer. This dump truck carry
heavy load in trailer. This dump truck is appropriate angle 5
degree.
• Hydraulic Cylinder:
 A hydraulic cylinder is a mechanical actuator that is used to
give a unidirectional force through a unidirectional stroke.
It has many applications, notably in construction
equipment (engineering vehicles), manufacturing
machinery, and civil engineering.
 A hydraulic cylinder is the actuator or "motor" side of this
system. The "generator" side of the hydraulic system is
the hydraulic pump which brings in a fixed or regulated
flow of oil to the hydraulic cylinder, to move the piston.
The piston pushes the oil in the other chamber back to the
reservoir.
Tipping Mechanism :
 The tipping mechanism is the heart of a three-way
tipper construction truck. Tipping mechanisms
works basically as follows:
• Hydraulic Cylinder:
 A hydraulic cylinder is placed below the body of truck
longitudinally at one end of the truck, and the piston end
of the hydraulic cylinders is connected by the means of a
pivot joint to the chassis of truck.
 In the forward stroke of the cylinder, it pushes the truck
body upward thus gives necessary lift for tipping dumping.
So, in the forward stroke of the cylinder, the truck is
unloaded. In the return stroke of the cylinder the body of
the truck comes to its original position.
Multi direction dumping system
• Hinge Joint:
 The other bottom end of the body of the truck is
connected by a hinged joint with the chassis. 3-way tipper
can overcome this problem, as it can unload material on
three sides.
• Three way tipper Mechanism:
 As already mentioned, a three-way tipper can unload materials in all three
sides. To control the sides of tipping one more pneumatic cylinder apart
from the main hydraulic cylinder is required. Also we require special types
of hinge joints in this case.
 The diagram of a 3-way tipper arrangement showing the main
hydraulic cylinders are placed at four corners of the chassis
(structure).Each of the four corners of the body is connected by a
cross joint with the hydraulic cylinders. The cross joint allows the
joining members to tilt with respect to two perpendicular axis.
• Hydraulic Jack:
 A jack, screw jack or jackscrew is a mechanical device
used as a lifting device to lift heavy loads or to apply great
forces. A mechanical jack employs a screw thread for
lifting heavy equipment. A hydraulic jack uses hydraulic
power. The most common form is a car jack, floor
jack or garage jack, which lifts vehicles so that
maintenance can be performed. Jacks are usually rated
for a maximum lifting capacity. Industrial jacks can be
rated for many tons of load.
• Universal Coupling:
 A universal coupling is a joint or coupling in a rigid rod
whose axis are inclined to each other, and is commonly
used in shafts that transmit rotary motion. It consists of a
pair of hinges located close together, oriented at 90° to
each other, connected by a cross shaft. The universal
joint is not a constant-velocity joint.
Conclusion:
 We are suggesting the sideways movements of the trolley
which could be very useful where there is a shortage of
space. This mechanism prevents blocking of the road
which saves the time and enhances the productivity.
Three direction dumper can be helpful for farmers , site
construction garbage collectors as well for dumping
gravels ,sand etc. it also reduce the work while it can
dump In three directions .it also takes less time than
traditional dumpers which reduce work time as well.
