This document discusses diversity and multiple access techniques used in mobile communications. It describes three main types of diversity: time, frequency, and space diversity which aim to reduce fading effects by transmitting the same information over multiple uncorrelated paths. It also discusses various multiple access techniques including FDMA, TDMA, and CDMA which allow multiple users to share the available spectrum. Direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) and frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) are presented as techniques to achieve frequency diversity in mobile communications systems.
