Multiple Natures
Helps you discover your personality and choose the
right career path
 Have you ever wondered why some people are successful
and why others aren’t? Is it luck or hard work? Or were
they just blessed with special talent?
 The answer is easy: they are merely working as per their
natures. Every person is born with certain abilities. And
when you work according to your strong abilities, you
automatically succeed In this section, you will learn the
fundamentals of Multiple Natures.
What is Multiple Nature
So what exactly are abilities?
 In 1983, Howard Gardner challenged the idea of IQ, which held
that there was one type of intelligence.
 He argued that there was more than one way to be smart, and
introduced the concept of Multiple Intelligences.
 This theory proposed eight unique abilities in each person,
including:
Multiple Intelligence
 Bodily Intelligence -the ability to control and use one’s body
 Interpersonal Intelligence - the ability to interact socially
with others
 Logical Intelligence - the ability to perform mathematics and
think in an orderly manner
 Linguistic Intelligence - the ability to acquire and use
language effectively
 Musical Intelligence - the ability to keep a beat, play
instruments, sing, etc.
 Visual Intelligence - the ability to see and produce images
 Intrapersonal Intelligence - the ability to self-reflect
 Naturalistic Intelligence - the ability to connect with the
environment
 Gardner explained how we each have all of these qualities to
different degrees. People who are naturally strong in a particular
intelligence find it easy to perform activities that make use of that
ability.
 If they perform that activity, they quickly excel and reach high
levels of achievement compared to others who are not naturally
strong in that ability.
 But multiple intelligences is only half the story. What is equally
important is how people use their intelligences. For that, we need
to look at something called natures.
So what exactly are natures?
 In 2008, Steven Rudolph took Multiple Intelligences a step ahead. He
proposed that while people have eight intelligences, they tend to use
these abilities in nine different ways. These nine tendencies that guide
our behavior he has identified as Multiple Natures. These include:
 Protective Nature - the tendency to prevent harm, loss, injury,
mistakes or wrong- doing
 Educative Nature - the tendency to teach others
 Administrative Nature - the tendency to get work done
 Healing Nature - the tendency to help others
 Creative Nature - the tendency to ideate
 Entertaining Nature - the tendency to attract attention and
amuse others
 Providing Nature - the tendency to help others
 Entrepreneurial Nature - the tendency to create or extract value
 Adventurous Nature - the tendency to take risk or do dangerous
things.
 When you look at a person’s combined Multiple Intelligences and
Multiple Natures, you can see a unique personality that emerges.
This combination of traits defines a person’s nature. And it is his
nature that influences how he acts--which types of activities he is
attracted toward, which things he naturally enjoys doing and which
things he is naturally good at.
 Consider the following examples:
 a person with strong visual intelligence and an entertaining nature
would have a tendency to do cartooning
 a person with strong naturalistic intelligence and a protective nature
would be inclined to engage in activities related to environmental
conservation
What’s the connection between MI and
MN?
 a person with strong intrapersonal and interpersonal
intelligence and a healing nature would seek out
opportunities to counsel others
 There are quintillions of possible MI-MN combinations,
which is how we can account for what makes people so
different. And just as no two fingerprints are alike, the same
can be said about people’s “personality prints”.
 The Multiple Natures Test (MN Test) is a psychometric assessment test
based on the Multiple Natures framework developed by American
educator, Steven Rudolph. It helps students identify their special
abilities and achieve their full potential.
 The MN Test contains a series of self-rating questions and can be
completed in 30 minutes. It is recommended for individuals age 13 to
adult, with separate tests for students and professionals.
 On the basis of your answers, the MN site creates a unique profile called
a "personality print". It then searches our database of hundreds of
careers and identifies the ones that match your nature. A 'match
percentage' is displayed along with each career to provide you with an
idea of how well that career is suited to your personality. You can then
search through the results using various filters (for salary, stream, field,
and qualification). Additional features include detailed career pages,
multiple paths to reach each career destination, degree descriptions, and
matching colleges.
 Over 100,000 students and professionals have taken the MN Test
throughout India.
