Aims:
-To acquire part of the basic film terminology
-To learn adjectives used to describe feelings and appearance.
- To acquire vocabulary connected with first impressions.
-To revise the structure “used to” for habits in the past.
-To foster media literacy skills
Recommended class procedure:
Before you watch: you may resort to the poster of the film and elicit what students know about it.
Provide the names of the characters if necessary. Do task A.
While watching: Do task B .
After watching: Do task D.
TASK A. In groups:
Use the poster to describe the setting in place of the film and to describe physical appearance.
1)Describe Saroo .
2)Describe his village.
3)Some questions to foster discussion:
-Do you think the film is based on true facts?
-Why do you think the film is called “A long way from home” in English?
-Do you remember getting lost and separated from your family as a kid ? Do you remember how
you felt? If not, can you imagine how you could have felt?
Task B. While watching try to complete this chart. Watch it more than once if necessary.

 Analyse the title: why was it chosen? Does it
have any relation with the segment chosen?

 Analyse Music. How does it contribute to
transmit feelings?

camera angles, shots and film speed.
 Analyze Characterization: describe the
thrree characters that appear on this segment.

as many adjectives as you can
