MyNotifications for New Function APAR Subscription

- 2. Customer Requirement SSMVSE12027 Submitted: 2012-10-08 07:34 Description: The ability to be notified of New Function APARs via the IBMLink ASAP feature is needed. The need has also been there, but has been made more important because of the announcement of the two-year z/OS cycle. Benefit: People can learn of important new functions an features of z/OS without having to wait for two years for the announcement of a feature, or without having to review every single PTF that's released Solution: Add a new subscription capability for 'New Function‘ at the time of APAR closure. Impact if no solution provided.: People might miss out on important new functions, especially those that provide improved performance.
- 3. IBM Support Portal for z/OS already exists You may have Notification Subscriptions already today…click on “z/OS - All versions and releases”, then check “Version independent”, then Go. https://www.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/support
- 4. Scroll down and click on “Support notifications”.
- 5. Logon with your IBM id. Each subscription is tailored for you.
- 6. You might already have subscriptions. Recommended: add another rather than change existing, to keep it separate. Click on Edit.
- 7. Under “Production information and publications” click on “New Function APARS”. Recommended: make sure nothing else is checked, or your notification will be “full” of other things.
- 8. Scroll down and click on “Submit”.
- 9. Click on “Delivery preferences”, to customize your notification method.
- 10. Put your preferences, I like one email a day. Then click on Submit.
- 11. All set up! Click on “Unsubscribe” to remove the subscription. Click on “View” if you want to see your accumulation of notifications.
- 12. All the recent New Function APARs, click to see the APAR details.
- 13. Your new subscription to New Function APARs may look something like this.
