1. NASA: Exploring the
Universe
NASA's mission is to explore the universe. It strives to expand our
knowledge of Earth. NASA was founded on July 29, 1958. In 2023, NASA's
budget was $25.4 billion.

2. A History of Exploration
Early Programs
Project Mercury paved the way for
human spaceflight. Gemini developed
essential techniques. Apollo 11
achieved the first moon landing.
Space Shuttle
The Space Shuttle era saw 135
missions flown from 1981 to 2011.
There were also tragedies. Columbia
and Challenger were disasters.
ISS
The International Space Station is a
global partnership. It allows scientific
research in space. It remains a
symbol of cooperation.
3. Unveiling the Solar System
1 Voyager Missions
Voyager 1, launched
September 5, 1977, is now
in interstellar space. It
explored the outer planets.
2 Mars Exploration
Rovers like Spirit,
Opportunity, Curiosity, and
Perseverance are searching
for signs of life on Mars.
3 Juno Mission
The Juno mission is studying Jupiter's atmosphere. It's also
learning about its magnetic field. This will teach us about the
planet.
4. Expanding Our Cosmic View
Hubble
Launched April 24, 1990, it has
made over 1.5 million
observations.
Revolutionary
Hubble captures images of
galaxies and nebulae. It
provides invaluable data.
JWST
JWST launched December 25, 2021. It observes the first galaxies
and exoplanets. It probes deeper into the universe.
5. Earth Science:
Understanding Our Planet
Earth-observing
satellites monitor
climate change. They
also track weather
patterns. They keep
watch for natural
disasters.
The Landsat program
is the longest-
running Earth
observation program.
It provides invaluable
data. It helps us
understand our
world.
NASA monitors sea
levels and ice caps. It
also tracks
deforestation. It
measures air quality
and water
distribution using
GRACE.
6. Technological Innovations
1
Contributions
NASA has contributed to GPS and weather forecasting.
They've also contributed to medical devices. These have
improved our lives. 2 Materials
Advanced materials were developed for spacecraft.
Examples are memory foam and fire-resistant materials.
These help us every day.
3
Green Tech
Green technologies include solar panels. They also include
water purification systems. These contribute to a
sustainable future.
7. Artemis Program: Returning to
the Moon
Goals
The goals are to establish a lunar presence. It prepares for
missions to Mars. The program hopes to make new discoveries.
Artemis I
The first uncrewed Artemis I mission was completed in 2022. It
was a complete success. It shows the program is strong.
Artemis II & III
Artemis II is a crewed lunar flyby planned for 2024. Artemis III has
a planned lunar landing in 2025. These mark milestones.
8. The Future of Space Exploration
Mars
Missions to Mars will search for life.
Human exploration is also a key
goal. This could rewrite history.
1
Europa Clipper
The Europa Clipper explores Jupiter's
moon Europa. The launch is planned
for 2024. It may reveal habitability.
2
Space Telescopes
Future space telescopes will study
exoplanets. The telescopes will
search for extraterrestrial life. We
may find new planets.
