This document discusses Fulton Trotter's experience implementing BIM processes for medium-sized architectural practices. It outlines some of the challenges they faced in adopting BIM, including new workflows and lack of standards. Case studies are presented on projects where BIM provided benefits such as quicker production, fewer variations, and more time for design. While contractors have been slow to adopt BIM, the future is envisioned as having fully model-based documentation and automated processes. Standard deliverables will help boost industry uptake of BIM by clarifying expectations.
