Bill Noble, the director of the Grand Valley Audubon Nature Preserve, gave a presentation about the history and goals of the preserve. The preserve was originally a gravel pit and window lake that is now home to over 100 year old cottonwood trees. The preserve aims to document ecological succession over time and showcase how restoration has created habitat for bird species. It serves as an educational field laboratory where periodic assessments are made and demonstration areas incorporated to share the process of restoring this rare desert river ecosystem.
