Michele Neylon gave a presentation on new top-level domains (TLDs) in Europe. He discussed the current landscape of European country code TLDs (ccTLDs) and compared them to generic TLDs (gTLDs). He noted there are over 500 new gTLDs being introduced which will create challenges and opportunities for customers and domain registrars. Key challenges include customer confusion over numerous TLD options and conflicts between EU privacy laws and ICANN's contracts.
