When searching in a specific journal, you first need to find and log into the journal through the library website. You can search for the journal by title using the "Journals A to Z" link. Once you log in with your student ID and last four digits of your SSN, the journal search page will open where you can enter search terms to find relevant full-text articles within that journal to use for your research.

- 2. When should you search in a specific journal? 0 Your instructor may require that you use articles from a given journal or journals. 0 This presentation will show you how to find and search in those journals.

- 5. Click on the link “Journals A to Z” at the far right of the menu bar.
- 8. Type the title of your journal 0Type the title of the journal you need to use into the box called “Title.” You need to spell your title correctly. 0Then, click on “Go.” 0The title of your journal will appear in red. Click on the title.
- 11. Now you need to log in 0Your ID is your student ID number, and the PIN is the last four digits of your Social Security number. 0Once you log in, you will be on the search page for your journal.
- 14. Searching within the journal 0The search box for the journal is on the left of the page. 0In the center, you will see information about whether the journal is full-text, and if so, what years are covered. 0Type your search term in the box and click on the magnifying glass.

Using the results 0 The results are listed in order of newest first. 0 That may mean that your first results are not full-text. 0 In this case, only results from 2004 and earlier are full text. 0 You can reverse the order to oldest first if you like, or sort by relevance so the “best” results are on top, regardless of date.
- 21. Finding a full text article 0Now that you have your results sorted by relevance, look through your list for articles with links to full-text or PDF files. 0It is best to use the PDF version when you have a choice; they have page numbers.
