The Proximity Platform SDK enables peer-to-peer communication between mobile devices and computers over Bluetooth without an internet connection. It allows applications to discover and communicate with each other nearby without requiring WiFi network configuration. The SDK provides messaging, low power operation, cross-platform compatibility across Android, iOS, OSX and Windows, and various proximity detection features. Developers can get started by creating an account, registering an app, and using a provided key and sample code for each platform.

Proximity Platform SDK Overview This software developer kit enables applications on any mobile device or computer to communicate peer-to-peer over Bluetooth Smart (4.x) without any networks present. Network discovery technologies like Bonjour, UPNP, DLNA and AllJoyn require devices to be connected to WiFi networks in order to discover and communicate with one another. Asking a user to leave an application, go into their device settings, find and select the correct WiFi network, then enter a password or login to a captive portal is a burden non-technical users avoid. Discovery via WiFi & GPS lack precision indoors. The NewAer SDK was born from the need for ambient on-demand connectivity at an application level, leaving the user free from the burden of configuring connectivity. It works while outside of LTE coverage areas, or with network congestion and eliminates cloud-syncing delays from two devices attempting to push/pull from a database. The NewAer SDK provides: • Peer-to-peer messaging between devices running your application • Software as a Service licensed solution • Low power operation for client devices (those not continuously beaconing) • Enables apps to communicate over BLE without a network present • Unique key so only peer-apps can discover and communicate with one another • Cross compatible SDK 5 - Android, iOS, OSX and Windows • iOS only SDK 6 and Pi 3 can send up to 15K bytes within a SSL wrapper • Can wake up periodically for scanning and messaging peers (iOS) • Can act as a software iBeacon host (iOS and Raspberry Pi 3 only) • Can wake up an application from the background when closed (iOS only) • Persistent scanning as a service (Android, Raspberry Pi and Windows) • Proximity Server enhanced discovery - enables discovery of peers in noisy environments or even when devices are beyond typical max range of BLE • Protected by six patents on automation of actions based upon radio waves To get started developing on the platform: 1.
