Problem: Stress in Corporate America
 According to recent studies the United States, over the last
decade has seen a significant increase of employees
reporting high levels of stress at work.
 A study by the American Psychological Association(APA)
reported that 44% of the employees in U.S, have had an
increase in their stress levels over the past five years.
 Princeton University conducted a research survey and found
that 75% of employees believe that workers have more on
the job stress than a generation ago.
 The top 6 causes for stress at work are: Money, Work, The
Economy, Family responsibilities, Relationships, Personal
Health.
Clay, R.A. “Stress in America.” American Psychological Association. 42.1 (2011): 60-62.

Effects of Stress
 Stress is a major factor in the decrease of productivity for
employees.
 According to the Journal of Occupational and Environmental
Medicine, Stress is costing U.S businesses an estimated $300 Billion
per year through absenteeism, diminished productivity,
employee turnover, legal and insurance fees.
 The top 6 symptoms of Stress are: Anger, Fatigue, lack of
motivation, feeling nervous and anxious, headache and
depression.
 Stress has led to Americans indulging in unhealthy behavior to
compensate and relieve stress. For example the APA reports that
two – fifths of Americans adults are overeating or eating
unhealthy foods and 40% suffer from insomnia.
Wolever, RQ, Bobinet, KG. J Occup Health Psychol 2012 Apr; 17(2):246-58.
Solution: Mindfulness
 Mindfulness is "the intentional, accepting and non-judgmental focus of
one's attention on the emotions, thoughts and sensations occurring in
the present moment, which can be trained by meditational practices”.
 Mind body connection, creating Oneness between the two, to be fully
present in the moment.
 Meditation, massage, deep breathing and Yoga are the parts of
Mindfulness.

more than tripled.
Google. “Mindfulness.” Google trends.

saved about $2,000 per employee in healthcare costs, and gained
about $3,000 per employee in productivity. Mindful employees, the
