What is NIP?
‘Neighbourhood Improvement Partnership’ is a platform to
enable citizens to participate in solving daily urban issues
Why NIP?
Breaking the complex urban problems into smaller pieces – starting with a neighbourhood!
•Bring attention to the neighbourhood scale that directly impacts quality of life of residents
•Create a framework to involve citizens in problem solving alongside public officials
•Bring to the fore good practices (workable solutions to civic problems) in the city that others can
learn from
•Showcasing the potential of Corporate Social Responsibility to tackle and overcome
development challenges in the city
•C4C, a first of a kind initiative by UTC, a Corporate GRANT of Rs 1 Crore
to support the winning Neighbourhood Improvement Initiatives
What projects can you apply with?
6 Indicative Sectors
1. Improving Mobility
2. Spot light on Public Safety
3. Revitalization of Public Spaces
4. Off the Grid Initiatives
5. Waste Management
6. Environment and Lakes
- All proposals must aim for improvements to the quality of life of those localities
- Projects to be proposed only in public spaces not private areas
- Projects must not be religious, political or sectarian

To solve a problem in your neighbourhood,
What do you need?
• Active community
– Identify issues
– Over view and monitoring (during and after implementation)
 Idea and technical assistance
 BBMP Support
 Funding for winning ideas/ proposals
Funding your project
Financial awards for winning entries
• Total grant INR 1 CRORE – Given by UTC, dispensed by UWB
• Upto INR 15 Lakhs per project towards implementation
• All sectors to be represented in award
• Criterion to be met for grant to be received
The Grant money can be given to an awardee who is
• An RWA registered under KSA and have an active Bank Account
• NGO with FCRA / 80G
• Businesses who must have a tie-up with an RWA for the solution that is to be embedded in that
neighborhood
• CBO and other associations who have been working with underprivileged communities for atleast
2 years
