Why C4C – NIP Challenge?
• Support and help local communities to solve their common, everyday problems
• Bring attention to the neighbourhood scale that directly impacts quality of life of
residents
• Create a framework to involve citizens in problem solving alongside public officials
• Foster a sense of ownership and responsibility among citizens towards their
neighbourhood
• Bring to the fore good practices (workable solutions to civic problems) in the city that
others can learn from
• Showcasing the potential of Corporate Social Responsibility to tackle and overcome
development challenges in the city

Who can Apply?
Challenge is open to the following groups:
• Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs)
Must be Registered with Karnataka Societies Registration Act (KSR Act) and
• Apartment Associations (AA)
• Gated Community Societies
• Community Based Organizations (CBO – Rotary/Lions)
• NGOs working with underprivileged groups
Must have worked for >2 years
- Economically challenged neighbourhoods (not registered under KSR Act) can
participate in collaboration with a neighbouring RWA

Awardees and dispersal of Grant Money?
Financial awards for winning entries
• Total award INR 1 CRORE
• Upto INR 15 Lakhs per project towards implementation
The Grant money can be given to an awardee who is:
• An RWA registered under KSA and have an active Bank Account
• NGO with FCRA / 80G
• Businesses who must have a tie-up with an RWA for the solution that is to be embedded in
that neighborhood
• CBO and other associations who have been working with underprivileged communities for
atleast 2 years

What support will NIP Team provide?
NIP team: Centre for Public Problem Solving (CPPS) and Embarq
The process of Consultations for competition applicants involve:
•Connect project teams (Solution Seekers – SS) with relevant experts (Solution Providers –
SP)
– For domain specific knowledge
•Mentorship for developing proposals
– Feasibility of the project
– Financial assessment and costing
– Impact analysis
– Replicability
– Phasing
•Sharing case studies of comparable projects

- All proposals must aim for improvements to the quality of life of those localities
- Projects to be proposed only in public spaces not private areas
- Projects must not be religious, political or sectarian
