The Legislative Branch
• The Legislative Brach is made up of Congress.

• Congress is made up of the Senate and the House of Representatives.

• It is the Congress’s job to make all the laws for our country.

The Senate
 • The Senate is made up of 100 members. There
 are 100 members because there are two from
 each state.

 • Senators are elected for 6 years.

 • A senator must live in the state he/she is
 elected for and they must be at least 30 years
 old.

 • A senator must have been a citizen of the
 United States for a minimum of 9 years.

The House of Representatives
• The House of Representatives has 435 members.

• States with a large population will have a lot of representatives.

• States with small populations will only have a few representatives.

• Members of The House of Representatives will be elected for 2 years and they
must live in the state they are representing.

• They have to be at least 25 years old and they must have been a citizen of the
United States for at least 7 years.

The Executive Branch
• The executive branch of the government makes sure the law of the United States
are followed.

• Our president is the head of the United States executive branch.

• This branch is very large so the President receives help from the vice president,
cabinet members, and other agencies.

The Judicial Branch
• The judicial branch of government includes the court system.

• The Supreme Court is the highest of the court system.

• It is the court’s job to decide the meaning of laws, how they are applied, and
whether they go against our rights in the Constitution.

• The Supreme Court is made up of nine Justices, or judges. They are appointed
by the President and must be approved by the Senate.
