This document analyzes metrics for nonprofit organizations' use of mobile advocacy and fundraising via text messaging in 2010. Key findings include: text list sizes grew 49.5% annually on average as organizations drew from existing email subscribers; the annual churn rate for text lists was 30.7%; call-in advocacy texts saw a response rate of 4.7%, much higher than email. The document also outlines the types of messages organizations were sending (fundraising, advocacy, informational, website links, and text replies) and benchmarks for list growth, churn, and response rates.
