1) Obtaining an accurate nuchal translucency measurement can be challenging when the fetus is in a difficult position.
2) Two techniques are described to help obtain the measurement - having the patient sit upright at a 75-90 degree angle, or scanning transvaginally and transabdominally simultaneously.
3) These techniques allow approaching the uterus from different angles to try and view the fetus in the optimal midsagittal view for measuring the nuchal translucency.
