What is Scratch?
Scratch is a programming language that you can
use to create interactive stories, games and
animations. It is also an online community where
you can share your creations with others from
around the globe. It helps students to think
creatively, reason systematically and work
collaboratively.
Scratch is a project of the Lifelong Kindergarten
Group at the MIT Media Lab.
What is the Hour of Code?
“The Hour of Code is a global movement reaching tens of millions
of students in 180+ countries. Anyone, anywhere can organize an
Hour of Code event. One-hour tutorials are available in over 30
languages. No experience needed. Ages 4 to 104.”
“The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science,
designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the
basics.“
“Every student should have the opportunity to learn computer
science. It helps nurture problem-solving skills, logic and creativity.
By starting early, students will have a foundation for success in any
21st-century career path.”
The main event is held during Computer Science Education Week
in December. This year the dates are December 7-13, 2015.
