Objective 2

     The student will demonstrate an
understanding of geographical influences on
             historical events.
How has geography influenced
  events in World History?
Imagine you open your mailbox and inside
is a big thick envelope addressed to you,
when you open it there is a picture of a
cake with Louisiana Classic Cakeoff on it.
You are very excited, but wait you live in
Texas, how do you get there. Like most
companies this one has enclosed a map.
And this map like most others, has just
provided you with a sense of assurance
 Why?
Why?
Most likely it is because you can read a
map. You know based on the map where
your destination is and how you will get
there. Just as a map can help in everyday
 situations an understanding of geography
 can help us in history.
Understanding Maps, Tables,
        and Graphs
Maps come in different sizes, colors, and
 shapes
The first thing to understand though is the
 Latitude and Longitude lines
Latitude and Longitude Lines
Latitude lines run from east to west and
measure from 0 to 90 degrees
Longitude lines run from north to south and
 measure 0 to 180 degrees
Latitude and Longitude Lines

measure from 0 to 90 degrees
Longitude lines run from north to south and
