Old Technology – An introduction

The earliest technological tools were the painting on cave
walls. The most common themes in cave painting were
large wild animals and tracings of human hands as well as
abstract patterns.

This is one of the oldest art forms which record, because at
least there is evidencedating to 40,000 years old.
Moreover, although the cave painting is essentially
a primitive spiritual expression, it can accommodate
almost to every era of human history and in almost every
continent. The earliest manifestations and the most
important are in Spain and France.

These paintings reveal that humans since prehistoric
times, organized a system of artistic representation that is
related to practices of magic-religious character to
promote hunting. For example, in some cases there
are cave paintings in remote areas of the cave or in
places difficult to access, there are others, however, in
which they are clear andunobstructed and clear areas.

When the decoration is removed from the sites occupied by
the settlement is the concept of sanctuary whose
character latent stresses its religious significance or out of
the ordinary. In cases in which the painting appears
in domestic contexts is considered the complete integration
of art, religion and daily life of primitive man.
