TITLE: Clothes and colours




Description: This is an elementary lesson focusing on clothes, colours, going to for
plans and intentions and the modal verb "might".

Introduction:
Women and even men pay a lot of attention to clothes and the colours. How many
times we say: "I like this colour for this and that other colour for that". Especially
women love planning what they are going to wear for this or that occasion. We usually
hear: "I am going to wear this red dress for the party on Saturday but not for the
wedding I have next week". People plan all the time what they are going to wear and
what colours and for what occasions. Clothes and colours seem a very important issue
in today's life and so we should pay attention to it and what's more... fell comfortable
with what we wear.
Task:

Students will prepare between 15 to 20 sheets of paper with interviews on it. The aim is
to interview from 15 to 20 teenagers about the kind of clothes they wear. The interview
will consist on the following questions:

1- What sort of clothes do you like wearing?

2- How much do you spend on clothes?

3- What's in fashion among your friends?

After doing the interviews students will analyze the results and they are going to create
a data base. With that data base they are going to calculate percentages and represent
these percentages with drawings on excel. After doing this, students will present the
work to the class and to the teacher and they are going to draw the final conclusions
together.



Process:

   1- Before doing the interviews, ask students to visit the following websites for them
      to be informed about the topic they are going to investigate, which is "Colours
      and clothes":

        www.joyofclothes.com

        Ask students to explore the website and to jot down some aspects to bare in
        mind while doing the interviews.

   2- Now, ask students to create the interview form on a word document. They should
      include the name and the age of the person who is being interviewed. After this,
      ask them to print them out and to start doing the interviews.



   3- When students have the interviews ready, they will create a data base with all the
      information they have from the interviews on a Word document.



   4- Now ask students to represent the percentage of each question creating a drawing
      on Excel.
5- Having everything done, students will show the class their work and the results
      they got from it and together with the teacher; they will draw the final
      conclusions about clothes and colours in teenagers.



   Evaluation:
This assignment will take into account the following things:

* Dedication (The number of hours spent on it and the quality of the work)

* Use of language, punctuation and grammar (This involves students jotting down what they
read from the website, the data base and the final conclusion)

* The fact of handing the work punctually.




Conclusion:
With this assignment students have:

* Practiced how to summarize information on a website.

* Used the internet to investigate about a topic.

* Practiced how to create a data base and to use Excel.

* Realized which information is relevant in order to write it down.

* Learn how to do an interview.

* Learn a bit more about other teenagers.

* Listened to the other classmates work and the different opinions on it.

* Talked about "Colours, clothes and teenagers" in the foreign language.

I am a trainee teacher from Argentina. I have planned this web quest for elementary students
from nine to twelve years old. It is a great activity for learners as it is an interesting topic among
all teenagers. The assignment is not a difficult one it only takes its time. Try to set time limits
for each stage.
