This document summarizes the current state of knowledge on climate change from the WTO-UNEP Trade and Climate Change Report. It finds that warming of the climate is unequivocal, largely due to human-caused greenhouse gas emissions. If emissions continue at current rates, global temperatures could rise 1.4-6.4°C by 2100. Impacts are already apparent worldwide and include increased extreme weather events. Both mitigation efforts to reduce emissions and adaptation are needed to avoid the worst effects of climate change. Approaches include improving energy efficiency, switching to renewable energy, reducing deforestation, and improved agricultural practices.
