The One Laptop per Child (OLPC) project aims to provide educational opportunities to underprivileged children worldwide by giving each child a low-cost and rugged laptop loaded with educational content and software designed for collaborative and joyful learning. The project develops the XO laptop which runs on a modified Linux system and is deployed in countries around the world, including locations in India like New Delhi and Maharashtra. Local organizations help facilitate the OLPC project and individuals can get involved through activities like content donation, translation, and participating in community initiatives.

- 7. OLPC India OLPC started it's journey in India in September,2007 at Khairat, a rural village near Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra. Since July 2008 OLPC India has been reaching out to various state governments, the primary education initiatives of the central government, corporations, foundations, NGOs and high net worth individuals. It also started a new pilot at Katha in Delhi.
