This document discusses open learning analytics (OLA) which refers to an open ecosystem of learning analytics tools, standards, and content. It notes that OLA is important because currently most work is siloed without collaboration. It summarizes a 2014 summit that identified four domains for OLA and the goals of the Apereo Learning Analytics Initiative to operationalize research through open source software and standards. It outlines components of an OLA framework and asks for feedback on activities for an upcoming conference.
