This document describes an open source storage pod hardware design called OpenStoragePod that provides petascale storage capabilities. The basic unit is a 4U storage pod containing 6 storage nodes, each a 170mm cube with a mini-ITX motherboard, 20 laptop disks for 20TB of capacity, and a 12V DC-DC power supply. A full rack holds 10 storage pods with 60 nodes, 1200 disks, and 1.2PB of total storage capacity requiring around 6000kW of power.
