This paper discusses the optimal placement of Static Series Voltage Regulator (SSVR) in distribution systems aimed at improving voltage profiles and reducing power losses, utilizing Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) for determining optimal placement. The authors evaluate the performance of the SSVR in a radial distribution system consisting of 33 nodes and find that its strategic placement in branch 5 mitigates under voltage issues and significantly lowers real and reactive power losses. Results indicate that with SSVR installation, the number of nodes experiencing under voltage problems is reduced to zero, confirming its effectiveness in enhancing overall system performance.
