' $ Horst Severini December 16, 2009 OSG and GridUNESP What is the Open Science Grid (OSG)? • OSG brings together independently owned and operated computing and storage resources from campuses and research communities into a common, shared grid infrastructure • OSG offers participating research communities – Virtual Organizations (VOs) – access to more resources than they could afford individually • OSG is a consortium of software – the Virtual Data Toolkit (VDT) – service and resource providers and researchers, who together build and operate the OSG project • OSG is funded by DOE and NSF and provides staff for managing various aspects of the project & % 2 GridUNESP Workshop
