RC Mini Gunea iMARS
As the flight control system project group we
decided to make an RC airplane model. We
named it Mini Gunia iMARS
For this this model firstly we made a discussion for ideas of the model.
Then after the discussion we made choice of.
Making a list of specification.
Making prototypes of the model to make sure the final model.
Taking the prototypes for the test run to find out problems.
Find a proper solution for the problem.
Specifications:
For this project we decided collect following specified items.
A pair of Brushless Traxx 300 28 T Motor [Clockwise and Anti -clockwise]
SimonK Emax 12A ESC
4 Servo and Servo Horns
Linkage Stopper
One pair 6 inch propeller
Y Extension
Extension cable 30mm
Four Nylon Clevis
Landing Gear three wheels
Heat Shrink 2mm
Radio controlling transmitter and receiver
E-flite 3200mAh 3S 11.1V Li-Po battery
Imax B3 Compact Charger
Cock-sheet
T connector
Glue Gun and Glue
Problems Identification
While the test run the following problems were identified
The Body was too much brittle. The body was hard and
non flexible too. Which is why while bending it usually
broke.
The gain thrust was too low. Lower than the expected
result.
Body weight became heavy.
Proposed Solutions:
• Changing Body Material for Brittleness
As we made the very first prototype, we noticed that it was almost impossible
to bend or to hold the pressure. When the test run was going could not hold
for too long, then broke down.
So we searched for an alternate material for the body. And came up with
the Depron foam. The depron foam is more ductile than the Cock-sheet.
Which let us to bend a form for the model perfectly.
The depron also could the body better than the Cock-sheet. So we
switched the body material to depron foam.
• Changing Motors for Thrust Issue
With the Traxx 300 28T model motor, the output was below the
expectation result. In the test run, the model could not move fast. As its,
rotation time per second was too low.
So we proposed a better idea, to change the motor model to a better
one. We looked for a better one against this motor model which can be
with our expected result.
So we came up with Emax 2204 2300kV 30C 11.1V Brushless motor
Clockwise and Anti-clockwise. It provided a better thrust performance
according to our seeking result.
• Replacing Equipment for Weight Issue
While the test run the speed was getting slow over and over time,
which is almost cracked the body and was unable to gain lift.
We checked that few of them items could be changed for less
weight keeping the output up to our seeking result.
So for reducing the weight, we decided to change the battery and the
servos. As they contain most of the weight. We changed the battery to E-
flite 3200mAh 3S 11.1V Li-Po battery instead of Wild scorpion 2200mAh
30C 11.1V. And also changed servos from 18gram to 9gram servos.
Output:
We made the body more ductile and firmly strong to hold.
Increased more efficient thrust of the body.
Reduced weight of the body to produce more efficient lift
