HOW TO DRAW AN OVOID UPON ITS LARGEST AXIS
1) Let´s imagine AB is the given axis. You have to divide this segment into six equal
parts by means of the Thales Theorem (if you don´t remember how to work it, go to
1 Term Theory page on the blog and review everything)
2) Points 2 and 5 are crucial to the process. Keep them and get rid of the rest. Draw a
line perpendicular to AB from point 2
3) Draw a circle (green color) with center in point 2 and radius 2A, you will get points
C and D. Draw a semicircle (red color) with center in point 2 and radius 2B, you will
get points E and F
4) Join points E and F to 5 and extend these lines until the red semicircle
5) Draw two arches from points E and F and radius ED and FC until the black lines you
had already drawn (in pink color in the image below). You will get points P and Q
6) Join points P, Q and B by means of a circle with center in 5 and radius 5P, 5Q or 5B
7) Get rid of everything you don´t need any more and you are done. Your beautiful
egg should look like the one you have here below
