Pileated Woodpecker – Caught in the act! This species of Woodpecker, one of the largest in size, can be found in the coastal forests of British Columbia and in Stanley Park where this large male was captured on film.

Mute Swan – This large male is one of the year round residents of Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park. Lost Lagoon hosts a number of these birds which can be found nesting along the edge of the lagoon in the spring.

The Common Merganser - A year round resident of BC these birds can be found in fresh and salt water and very often frequent Lost Lagoon. They have serrated bills for catching fish and are also referred to as “Sawbills”.

Great Blue Heron – It is the largest North American Heron and we are fortunate to have a great deal of them in Stanley Park. In the Spring you can find hundreds of them nesting and raising their young in the park.

American Black Oystercatcher – These extremely shy and amazingly colourful birds can be found in the Spring off the shores of Stanley Park’s Third Beach. They can be found playing in the surf fighting over mussels and other shell fish.

Great Blue Heron In Flight (Lost Lagoon) – One of my favourite shots to pursue is capturing reflections on the water of birds in flight. This day the water was perfectly calm and the Heron was most cooperative.
